BEACH HANDBALL
A relatively new beach sport, but one much loved in its original format, beach handball has followed in the footsteps of beach volleyball and beach soccer by taking handball to the sand. Played in teams of four, the game uses a rubber ball and a beach court smaller than the traditional handball playing arena.
Pakistan’s men’s team took home gold in Bali 2008 while the People’s Republic of China secured the Women’s gold.
Sanctioned by the International Handball Federation (IHF) and the Asian Handball Federation (AHF) the beach handball competition at Muscat 2010 will include both the men’s and women’s team tournaments.
