The Sports of 2nd Asian Beach Games 2010 : Beach Sepaktakraw

BEACH SEPAKTAKRAW

Native to Southeast Asia, the sport combines elements of volleyball, soccer and gymnastics and is often called “kick volleyball”. Using a rattan synthetic ball, players use their feet, head and chest to land the ball into the opponents’ court.

Thailand’s men’s and women’s teams both took home gold in Bali 2008, whereas the People’s Republic of China was victorious in the women’s regu event.

Sanctioned by the International Sepaktakraw Federation (ISTAF) and the Asian Sepaktakraw Federation (ASTAF) beach kabaddi will welcome both men’s and womens’ team and regu competitions.

The Sports of 2nd Asian Beach Games 2010 : Beach Kabaddi

BEACH KABADDI

An exciting combative sport requiring skill, poise and power, kabaddi combines the characteristics of wrestling and rugby and dates back thousands of years. The sport of beach kabaddi is played by teams of four, for two 15-minute periods.
India is the reigning Asian Beach Games gold medal champion in both the men’s and women’s competitions.

Sanctioned by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) and the Asian Amateur Kabaddi Federation (AAKF) Muscat 2010 will welcome both the men’s and women’s team competitions.
