BWF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2010: YONEX is title partner

The French Badminton Federation (FFBA) and its consulting agency Keneo have announced that YONEX Japan will be the title partner of the 2010 BWF Badminton World Championships in Paris.

The Championships will be played at the Coubertin Arena, the same venue as the YONEX French Open, from 23 to 29 August.

In expressing his delight in the partnership, FFBA president Paul-André Tramier, said the partnership was proof of badminton’s growing popularity in France and the international impact of hosting a world-class event in Paris.

“First, it was the Badminton World Federation (BWF) that rewarded our actions by giving us for the first time the opportunity to organise the World Championships in Paris. And now YONEX, a major badminton brand, decides to support us and thus acknowledges the emergence of our sport in France and the international impact of the event,” said Tramier.

The FFBA has, to date, 140,000 members and is a regular host of the BWF Super Series event – the YONEX French Open.

Ben Yoneyama, President of Yonex Co., Ltd. commented: “YONEX is pleased and honored to be selected as the Title Partner of these prestigious Championships. With extensive experience as a key partner of the BWF Super Series “FRENCH OPEN” for several years we are very confident that, together with the FFBA and Keneo, we shall be able to deliver a successful World Championships in Paris”.

YONEX joins the pool of partners of the event formed by the Official Partner Allianz (insurance), and Official Supporters GL events (fitting-out) and Stand Up (security).

With the Championships still six months away, 50 per cent of the tickets have already been sold, another significant sign that badminton is enjoying a healthy boom in France.
