THAILAND lead the chase in the medal tally with 42 gold, 49 silver and 48 bronze medals for a total of 139 after five days of competition in the 25th Sea Games in Vientiane. But hosts Laos are going strong for their best ever medal haul in the biennial games that official began on Dec 9 and will come to a close on Dec 18. Laos are in seventh place out of the 11 countries that are competing in the Games ahead of former sports powerhouse Myanmar who are lying in eighth place with a poor tally of 6-10-21.
Vietnam are in second place with a 32-31-38 tally (101 total) while Singapore are close third on 28-19-25 (72 total).
Malaysia and Indonesia occupy the fourth spot with 22-27-35 (84). The Indonesians have won 21 golds, 21 silvers and 36 bronze medals for a total of 78.

In sixth place are the Philippines who have figures of 18-19-23.
Cambodia have won two golds in their 2-5-11 tally and oil-rich sultanate Brunei have figures of 1-1-5 and are in 10th place.
The only country yet to win a gold or a silver is Timor Leste who have won three bronze medals so far.
