25th Sea Games, Laos. Vientiane 2009
Badminton is a racquet sport where a shuttlecock made of feathers is used as the projectile. Badminton is an indoor game. Contemporary badminton first appeared in the middle of the19th century . The game evolved from the game battledore and shuttlecock , which can be traced back to ancient Greece, China, Japan and India . Badminton is played by either two opposing players or two opposing pairs .
Badminton has been categorized on the basis of the number of players involved in the game. When two players play badminton , the match is called " singles ". When two pairs of players play opposite to each other, the match is called " doubles ". The rectangular court for badminton is divided into two halves by a net. Players or pairs take positions on the opposite sides of the net.

Venue
a. Competition Site
The competition will be held at Gymnasium1, The National Sports Complex.
b. Training Site
Training venues will be provided at Manoluk Gymnasium (6) and Thanongath Gymnasium (5).
The training schedule for each team will be given upon the arrival.

The Laos National Sports Complex is located about 16 KM from the centre of Vientiane City and comprises a 20,000 seating capacity main stadium, a 2,000 seating capacity indoor aquatics complex, with a outdoor warm-up pool, a Tennis centre consisting of 2,000 seating capacity centre court plus 6 other tennis court, two indoor stadia each with seating capacity of 3,000 and a indoor shooting range with 50 seats.
