25th SEA Games, Laos. Vientiane 2009 SPORT DISCIPLINES


Petanque (pronounced [pe.ta:k] in French) is a form of boules where the goal is, while standing with the feet together in a small circle, to throw metal balls as close as possible to a small wooden ball called a cochonnet (jack). The game is normally played on hard dirt or gravel, but can also be played on grass or other surfaces. Sandy beaches are not suitable. Similar games are bocce and bowls.

Petanque Court, National University of Lao, Dongdok.

National University of Laos (NUOL) is a university in Vientiane, the capital of Laos. Founded in 1996, with departments brought in from other existing colleges, it is the only national university in the country. National University of Laos (NUOL) has 11 faculties, 7 centers and central library operating in different campuses where Dong Dok is the head quarter and the office of the president. Very recently, the government of Laos has seen the importance of training qualified health physicians to serve the needs of the nation and hence endorsed a decree assigning Setthathirath hospital to be the university hospital.
